Gary Edgell Obituary
NEW STRAITSVILLE: Gary W. Edgell, 63 of New Straitsville when home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at his home. He was born November 11, 1948 in Pittsburg Hollow the son of the late Calvin W. and Katie Jane Wolfe Edgell.
He was the Minister and founder of the Good News Chapel in New Straitsville, Viet Nam Army veteran, former employee of Superior Fibers in Bremen, attended the New Straitsville United Methodist Church, he was a ham radio operator, artist and motorcycle enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife Glenda A. Kemp Edgell; daughters Michelle(Glenn) Dobbins, Angela(John) Butler and Samantha Fleshman; brothers Terry(Dioria) Edgell and Calvin(Sandy) Edgell; step-children Troy(Dawn) Foster, Lance Foster, Laura McCarty and William(Crystal) Rookstool III; numerous grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Sheila Royer.
Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday November 25 at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home 118 W. Walnut Street, Shawnee. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday November 26, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev Ernie Perkins officiating. Interment: Beech Grove Cemetery.

Gary was my radio friend and I recall fondly our many conversations. He was always there when you called. He will be missed. Our prayers go out to his wife and family.

I never had the privilege of meeting Gary in person but spoke to him many, many times on amateur radio. Gary became a good friend and I always admired his positive attitude and pleasant outlook during our many conversations. I know I can speak for the entire ham radio community when I say he will be deeply missed. Our condolences to his family.
