Harriet R Huck

McConnelsville - Harriet R. Huck, 89 of McConnelsville, passed away at 5:40 am, April 24, 2018 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born May 22, 1928 in Canton to the late, Isabel Blank McArdle and Joseph E. McArdle. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Canton in 1948. She married, Richard J. Huck August 4, 1951 at St. Philip & James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton. She began working at Mark Rest Center in 1971 and served as Director of Nursing from 1981 until her retirement in 1990. Harriet was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. James Catholic Women's Club, Mercy School of Nursing Alumni, American Legion Auxiliary of McConnelsville, Morgan County Historical Society, volunteer at Mark Rest Center, long-time volunteer of Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care of Zanesville, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, a member of the Morgan County Suicide Prevention Coalition. She organized and headed the Morgan County Widows Support Group, was a member of three different Bridge Groups, and the Friday Book Club. She loved Morgan County and being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was honored as the Morgan County Hometown Hero in 2011 by the American Red Cross. After her retirement, she assisted her sons; Michael and Richard at Miller-Huck Funeral Home. She is survived by two daughters; Debbie (Tommy) Georgiades of Zanesville and Cynthia Inman of McConnelsville; two sons, Richard J. (Nancy) Huck, Jr and Michael (Kelley) Huck of McConnelsville; seven grandchildren, Jason (Emily) Huck, Adam (Jody) Shriver, Tanner (Rachel) Georgiades, Jessica (Jason) Cooper, Evan (Kayla) Shriver, Jordan (Ashley) Huck, and Hannah (Wesley) Bragg; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan "Mick" Filicky and Bonnie Maurer of North Canton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Huck, Sr who died December 22, 1992; two sisters, Mary Louise Minsker and Rosemary Mang; and a brother, Joe McArdle. Friends may call from 3-7 pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in McConnelsville with Father Tim Kozak and Father Paul Walker as Celebrants. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in McConnelsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church 257 E. Bell Ave. McConnelsville.
