NEW LEXINGTON: Russell B. Kern, 82, of New Lexington, passed away October 21, 2013.

He was born July 5, 1932 in Wood, VA, a son of the late Hobart and Ollie Reno (Brockus) Kern.

Russell served our county and protected our freedom by serving in the United State Air Force. While working for Diamond Electric, Russell was able to visit every Nuclear Power Plant in the world at the time. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed watching football.

Russell is survived by his children, Jimmy Kern, Karen (Michael) Peterman, Russell Gale Kern, Terry (Leah) Kern, Brian Keith (Michelle) Kern and Marcia (Walter Reed) Kern; brothers, McDonald and Alfred Ray Kern; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and beloved dog, Sadie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Jean (Crane) Kern; siblings, Evert Kern, Evelynn Hina, Betty Carpenter and granddaughter, Angela Hail.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. till the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 207 BURLEY ST. CROOKSVILLE. Military honors will conducted by the Air Force Honor Guard.
