William Gehlken Obituary
He was born on April 28, 1939 in Charleston, SC. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was recently retired from Crane Plastics in Columbus where he worked for sixteen years. He enjoyed woodworking and woodcarving. He enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Beverly L. Gehlken of the home; daughter, Tammy Sparks and Jeff Haren, son, William L. (Beth) Gehlken, Jr., and daughter, Ruth (Joe) McCorkle all of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Adam Sparks and fiancee, Karissa Kae Debolt, Joel Sparks, Alana Gehlken, and Aaron Gehlken all of Zanesville; two brothers, Tony (Mary Jo) Gehlken and Donald (Carole) Gehlken both of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Barbara Deas of Summerville, SC and Charlotte Dahlham of FL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter R.C. and Annie Gehlken; one brother, Walter Gehlken; one sister, Mary Alice Beylotte.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home. Father Luke Turon officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. VFW Post #1058 will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

I was sorry to hear about an old friend
