William Kiener Obituary
COLUMBUS: William C. (Bill) Kiener Jr., Mr. Doodah, 68 of Columbus, Ohio, died on May 3, 2013, of a heart attack.
Predeceased by father William C. Kiener, Sr. and Mary (Sydney) Kiener.
Survived by his wife of 33 years, Dianne; two children, Zachary (Andrea) Kiener and Abigail (Germaney) Johnson; sisters, Margaret (Sam) Cavallaro, Susan (Russ) Murray, Michelle (Jay) Brooks; brothers, Dr. Joseph (Celeste) Kiener, Peter (Lana) Kiener; four grandchildren, Jade and Caleb Kiener, Zaviayre and Aziyah Johnson. A very special Aunt Mary Jo Leonard; many neices, nephews and cousins.
Bill was a graduate of St. Aloyisous Academy in New Lexington, Ohio. He enlisted in the Navy from 1963 to 1967. He is retired from Ohio Bell after 23 years of service. Bill was an active member of AA for 35 years. In 1983, he co-founded the Doodah Parade in the Short North. Cycling TOSRV and running marathons were 2 of his favorite activities.
A celebration of Bill's life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cleveland Clinic in memory of Bill Kiener and send to Cleveland Clinic, P.O.Box 931517, Cleveland, Ohio 44193-1655. Attention: Heart transplant department.
Arrengements are entrusted to the J.E. HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME, Shawnee.

Diane, I doubt you remember me. I met Bill in the early 80's, when I was the Sales Director of a Holiday Inn in St. Clairsville, OH, and he was down there working on a long term project. You came down and spent a few weekends there. He was a LOT of outrageous fun, and my, how often and eloquently he spoke of how much he loved you. I may not have personally known the man, but Beth was kind enough to share amazing stories that touched my life. From the passions shared in the cycling world to individuality expressed in the Doodah Parade, he was a true, real, kind hearted man who will undoubtedly be missed by many. He will never be forgotten.

For Bill's amny family and friends, I am sorry I didn't have the chance to meet him. He was truly blessed with loving family,friends. I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.I remember some good times at the union hall when he'd play Santa for the kids Christmas parties.Before the kids arrived he'd tell some funny jokes just to relax people and he'd make eye contact with me when he'd have a child sitting on his lap and we'd just both start laughing! Bill,you will be remembered FOREVER!!!!!

Bil will be missed. I remember working for House of Hope and Bill took some of the guys to Lake Erie for the week end he was an amazing man and great example on how sobriety is fun.

I worked with Bill at Ohio Bell and we had a great time while we were there. He was a funny guy and a friend, I will miss him. We hadn't kept in touch over the years but he was a friend.

Bill was a great spirit, a good soul and an inspiration to many people for different reasons.
Folks like him are needed on this planet, and he will be missed by so many. He leaves a legacy and lasting contributions to society, sobriety, and humor,
which is so sorely needed, among his other accomplishments. I was so glad to have met him in Miami, then for our wonderful visit to see him and his marvelous parade which inspired ours, the King Mango Strut, which he visited and enjoyed. 20 years ago during a rough time for me Bill gave me the shirt off his back, literally. It read "One day at a time" in Hebrew and, like Bill, it made me smile, helped me deal, and was one of a kind and unforgettable. I miss you Bill.

I was so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a force of nature, a character of the highest sort, with that kind of energy that could not be dampened, by ill health or age. I will miss him.

What a great guy. Bill and I were Mr & Mrs Santa Claus at the union parties back in the 70's. His humor was definitely his personality. My sympathy goes to his family. My heart is very sadden by his passing.

Bill, your light will live on in so many other people. You have touched my family into two generations. My kids grew up and older with you in their lives. Not too many people I can say that about outside of family. You have been very involved in helping others and leave that as a wonderful legacy. Your wit didn't hurt either! :)

I too, always looked forward to seeing Bill at our reunions, but it was our class reunions. He gave us all shirts at our 25th..& from what I hear, his life has been spent doing for others!! He will definitely be missed at our reunion this yr.
