Shevy Wright Obituary
Shevy Wright was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor in December last year and got his wish to become a Chandler police officer in July.
Shevy wore a specially made uniform, took an oath from the chief of police and even got a badge.
Chandler police announced Tuesday that Shevy succumbed to the disease on Saturday and that funeral services will be held at Chandler Christian Church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Services are open to the public.

I came to visit Shevy's resting place today to reflect on life and how precious it is. I did not know him personally, but my heart was hurting because of what this beautiful little person had to endure at such a young age.
My happiness lies in the fact that he is resting now with no pain. Rest in peace, Officer Wright.

I would awake in the middle of the night and there was Schevy's smiling face imprinted on my mind and I would pray. Though I have never met Shevy Wright, his story of kindness, bravery, all that he has accomplished such as being a police officer and a ladies man will be told in my family. He will be an inspiration to my little boys, ages 2 and 4, and God willing to any grandchildren we have in the future. Heather, I can never imagine loosing a child, but I have come very close. And I know how much that hurt. The only thing I can tell you is the hurt does fade, but the memories will never go away. I was honored to be Shevy's Music teacher at Dobson Academy. He would visit me almost everyday just to say hello and to take a look at all the cool "stuff" in my room. He always made me smile and even though days got tougher for Shevy he never stopped smiling and asking for hugs. I LOVE YOU BEAUTIFUL BOY. Sing out nice and loud in Heaven so we may all hear!

I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend your funeral on Saturday. But I did see your mom at your wake. You looked very handsome in your uniform. I am so honored to have met you and your mom. I WANT TO ADD MY CONDOLENCES TO LITTLE SHEVY'S FAMILY. THERE IS NOTHING GREATER THEN LOSING A CHILD. MY SISTER WHO WORKS FOR THE CHANDLER P.D. HAD TOLD ME ABOUT HIM AND SENT ALL THE PICS OF SHEVY WHEN HE WAS TAKING HIS OATH AS AN HONORARY OFFICER BACK IN JULY. I KNOW ALL THE OFFICERS WILL MISS HIM BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THEIR OWN. HE HAS JOINED THE RANKS OF ALL THE OTHER OFFICERS WHO HAVE GONE ON BEFORE HIM. MAY GOD BLESS HIS SOUL. AMEN
