Just coming across Ricks obituary these many years later. Rick had the dorm room next to my room during my Freshman year at Illinois in 1982/1983. Thinking about the fun times hanging out with Rick bring a smile to my face and a chuckle to my heart. The dude was one of the nicest big old Teddy Bears I ever met. Condolences to his family, just wanted you to know this "next door dormmate" of his thinks the world of Rick and will never forget him.

Years later I heard the news,Rick was the reason I have my AZ. experience.I was invited into his home to meet the family as a friend from out of town, not sure how often that happened, but I felt very welcome. It was a great opportunity and I wish my stay would've been longer.Being young and not thinking everything through I made the decision to go back home to build my career.I asked Rick how could I pay you back for such an experience, he simply said "just help someone else " for years that stuck with me and that's what I do.Thanks for the empowering knowledge of helping someone else. To the Schulte family, first I would like to say that words can't come close to saying how I feel about Rick's passing. I meet Rick when I was 12 years old, I'll never forget the Big Man that drove threw South Phoenix looking for some young guy's that knew how to rap. I was looking to reach him when I got on the internet to find out his passing. I'll miss all the times he would pick me up to practice with another kid from east phoenix. Rick was my Mentor all the time I knew him.A good Man, I wish would have stayed in touch more often so we could have meet up again.I know your in good hands with the lord! I,ll never forget the impact you made in my life.

To the Schulte Family,
I am very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. Eventhogh we have not been in touch for years, his death still leaves a void in my heart. We go back many years to Cumberland Elementary School and all the way through high school. Rick had a huge heart, great mind and often stood up for me because I was much smaller than most. He will sorely be missed by all.

To the Schulte family,
I was sorry to hear of Rick's death.
I had known Rick since I was a freshman in high school and played football with Rick. He was a class act. Rick was an excellent football player but his character was exemplary.
I will remember Rick as one who would not drink at parties but provide great music. He would often insist we take off the classic rock such as Lynryd Skynyrd to put on Michael Jackson's Off the Wall.
My condolences to the Schulte family.
May God bless Rick,

The fact that I heard of Rick's death more than a year after the fact does not reflect the love and affection I have always had for my friend. Since the late 1980's I have been "caught up in" Rick's embracing charm and aura. His move from Atlanta to Phoenix did little to reduce his impact but the distance had a way to keep us from laying eyes on one another with as much frequency. I am not only saddened but shocked to discover his warm take charge presence is no longer with us. My sincere condolences to his family.

Rick - You are missed! I transferred in the spring semester of 84'. I have never met a guy with the love, tenacity, and intensity for the game of football in my life as Rick did...and that goes to this day. The situation was the first day of spring practice. Offensive linemen vs. defensive linemen "One on One pass rush drill". Rick would get the whole offensive line fired up for the drill as they came over to take us on. He went up against a JC transfer and handled him well. After that whistle blew he yelled welcome to the Big Ten!!! From there on out when you went up against Rick you better bring your "A" game or else....love you Rick and miss you!!!!

I was in shock when I heard of Rick's passing today. While we each went our own way, he was a special part of my life and his loss touches me deeply. I remember him being full of love and fun, yet he was respectful and somewhat shy. I loved being around his family supporting him at his college football games. We had some wonderful times together that will never be forgotten. He was so patient with me throughout our relationship as I really didn't know what I wanted from it.
His family has always been supportive of him and had such a positive impact on him. During the time I knew Rick, he particularly looked up to his mother. I'm sure his children were an endless joy to him and he enjoyed life to its fullest.
My deepest sympathies to his wife, children, parents, brother, and sister.

I'm at a loss for words. My heart goes out to you Jessica, AJ, Jordyn, Micheline, William and your entire family. I remember Rick as a Rookie with The Chicago Bears and taking him under my wing. We shared so many fond memories and laughs together. Our friendship was important and stood the test of time. I recall his trips to LA, acting, running with me on the track, dinners and spending time with the kids. I enjoyed calling from time to time to catch up on events and feeling his passion and motivation for life. He made me a better person. Jessica, my heart and door is always open to you and your family.
RICK - YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED, MY FRIEND.

My heart goes out to Rick and the entire Schulte family. I can rememeber while on my recruiting trip to Illinois in 1980, we stayed in the University Inn and Rick was on my floor. He was going to be an incoming freshman in the fall of 1981. I was a Soph JC transfer from California (L.A. Pierce JC). After introducing ourselves, he was so pumped up and excited about playing for the Illini, he got down in a 3-point stance and started yelling out cadences and took off running around the hotel hallway. I said to myself, this guy is either crazy or he really loves football. Sure enough, my man Rick really loved football. Rick and I spoke once or twice over the years. I remember seeing him in a music video as a tough guy...that was funny. Rick was one of the most inspiritual underclassmen on the team and hard to forget. Rick will be dearly missed by his friend...Love you man,

My deepest condolences to the Schulte family, Rick and i played together at Illinois I was a running back. I was greatly saddened by Ricks passing. I unfortunately didn't keep in contact with Rick after our playing days together, but i have many, many, great memories of him as a teammate and friend.I would like to share one with you. My first game at Illinois was a blur 80 thousand people, my head was spinning from all the sound and light. I was needless to say overwhelmed by it all , but what I do remember clearly was Rick's voice , time and time again during the game, grabbing me by both shoulder pads and yelling encouragement over 80k fans! Picking me up after every play.In my memory it seems that the game was moving too fast for me and Rick was aware of it and personally took it upon himself to help me cope with it, He was a warrior! I will always remember his kindness, sensitivity and spirit. What a great "teammate" i wish I had Rick Schulte as a friend, teammate and "blocker" for the rest of my days. He will be greatly missed, Sincerely,Eric Wycoff

I first met Rick when I went back to Maine West High School to work out with the wrestling team. Rick was such a big guy he could be intimidating, if it wasn't for the fact he was so outgoing and friendly. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rick. I was on Rick's wrestling team at Maine West High School. Rick was one of the nicest guy's you could ever know. I remember one day during the time he played football at Illinois and played in the rose bowl, he was driving past me in his car and when he recognized me he honked, waived and smiled with his big huge smile and said how you doing Spencer? He was very nice and his success never got to his head. I remember that day driving away with a very nice feeling and saying to myself, "I cannot believe he remembered me and even though he hit it big time playing football at Illinios and in the NFL, he still took the time to say hi to me." Rick was an outstanding wrestler and always had a burning desire to succeed. I am truly blessed by knowing Rick. May God Bless the soul of Rick Schulte.

Schulte Family~
I am greatly saddened by the news of Rick's passing. I am honored to have been a part of the Priority Staffing family 1993 - 1995. Rick provided me the opportunity as a college student to learn an industry that he was passionate about and I became passionate about. After working for Priority for 2 years, I went on to work for another staffing agency for 11 years and today still continue to be employed in the HR field. I credit him for providing me a chance when so many others did not and for that, I am truly grateful.
Ms. Jessica, God bless you and your entire family today, tomorrow and forever.

We are deeply saddened by the suddenly loss of Rick. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Schulte family. The creation of Priority Staffing was a truly forward moving and innovative concept (minority owned and operated). From creating a mobile job center to reach people in their communities to treating his staff to all-expense-paid retreats at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey, Rick clearly had a big heart. Although Rick is no longer with us, he will certainly not be forgotten. Be Blessed Schulte family. Dawn/Gladys/Germaine (Priority Staffing 1993-97)

When we lose someone we love, someone that has made a difference in our lives, the loss seems too great to bear, but God sends us family members and friends to comfort us, to show that He's always around. Ricky, thanks for being there when I needed a job. Jessica - The prayer warriors are working overtime to bring you and your family comfort and peace.

To Rick's family...my thoughts are with you at what must be a difficult time. As Rick's Academic Counselor during his career at the University of Illinois, I remember his strength and intensity was not limited to the football field. He made up his mind and worked until he reached his goal. He was a great player for us, and we will miss him. His untimely passing comes on the same weekend of another Illini great, Mel Agee...Rick was finishing up his Illinois career when Mel was starting his. The Illini Nation is saddened today. Please, please make the trek back to Champaign and our campus for a football game in Rick's honor. I will look forward to hearing from you, and will share some stories of the "good ol' days". Be well.

I am so sorry to hear about this tragic loss. This is Dominique Roumain from Chicago. I remember talking with Ricky while he was in college and visiting him at school. He had such a great spirit and appeared to live life to the fullest. My prayers are with the family and may GOD help you thru this difficult time.

My thoughts & prayers go out to my first & most memorable roommate at the University of Illinois. We had some great talks...some great memories during those days in Champaign. You always seemed to bring out the best in people!
Rest in peace my friend!
