I knew Burt from 1960, Scottsdale High School, Coronado High School, and he mentioned working around my dad, Len Burkland. He was going to tell me something my dad and he discussed but we never got around to it.
Burt was one of the smarter kids I knew and I was glad that I got to know him.
I still think about you

Burt Goodman was class. We worked on opposite sides of the street but he was always full of praise when earned and friendly suggestions for improvement when deserved.

He did more to raise the quality of newsgathering in Arizona than just hold down the fort at KOOL AM. His work for the Arizona AP Broadcasters --- contests, symposia, sharing stories via the wire --- served Arizonans in every part of the state.

He was, in absolute accuracy, a newsman's newsman.

Burt and I pledged Sigma Nu at ASU in 1962, and it was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Burt was already dabbling in radio and the entertainment field and he found a way to finance a recording by a band I was in during our freshman year of college.

Burt and I had many exciting adventures during those years and I will always remember him and his great sense of humor.

My condolences to Burt's family and best wishes for the holiday season.

Burt,
I will always be grateful for your guidance and wisdom which has served as a foundation for the successes in my life. You were always the consumate professional, with just a touch of irreverence.
Your sense of humor and incredible zest for life brought joy to everyone around you. I miss you, my friend.

Burt Goodman got me started into a broadcast news career that lasted 27 years. I will forever be grateful to Burt for the pointers he gave this wide-eyed journalism student from Phoenix College in May 1971, as he set up the camera on a tripod, grabbed the microphone and interviewed then Arizona Congressman Morris "Mo" Udall. He basically "showed me how it's done" and led me by the hand those first few months before I was hired permanently to the KPHO-TV 5 staff. For that I was always grateful to Burt.
But more than a teacher, Burt was a friend and colleague. And that's what I've always remembered.
Vaya Con Dios, Burt, and my family and I will keep you and your family in our prayers.
