Dear Shirley, Bill and Scott,
Jerry and I were so very sad when John called to tell us Phil had passed. We will miss Phil very much. He was such a great guy and a good friend. Shirley, he loved you so much. Remember how I used to tell you that he looked at you with such love in his eyes? You two had something very special and it is important to remember and cherish that. Remember how all the girls envied you because you had the most handsome guy in Auburn! Boy, he was one handsome man, but his heart was all yours Shirley. Bill, Scott, your Dad loved you both very much and was very proud of you. Keep that close to your heart during this sad time. When we got the news, Jerry said it is times like this that we wish we could be there. If it had been possible, we would have been. Shirley, I will call you soon. I wanted to give you some time to try to catch your breath. We love you and we are here whenever you need to talk.
