David Lasher Obituary

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine < David M. Lasher, 63, a prominent Old Orchard Beach businessman, of Cascade Road, Old Orchard Beach, Maine, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddleford. Mr. Lasher was born in Auburn, July 26, 1945, a son of Ernest R. and June A. Morris Lasher. He was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Auburn High School. During the Vietnam War, he served a tour of duty in the Army in Vietnam. In 1971, he moved to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and became employed by the George Cooper Plumbing Company in Old Orchard Beach. Upon Mr. Cooper"s retirement, Mr. Lasher, purchased the business and renamed it Lasher Plumbing, Inc., which he operated until the time of his death. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the former Old Orchard Beach Country Club and then the Deep Brook Golf Club in Saco, where he played several times a week during the golf season. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the C. Fayette Staples Post American Legion, both in Old Orchard Beach, and the Biddleford-Saco Lodge of Elks in Saco. Survivors include his wife of eight years, Lynne Drew Lasher, of Old Orchard Beach; two daughters, Michelle Clark and her husband, Brian Clark, and Deborah Pelchat, of Waterboro; a stepson, Jeff Robertson, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a sister, Janis Schmidt and her husband, Tom Schmidt, of Auburn; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Robert Lasher. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave., Old Orchard Beach, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Dunegrass Golf Club Facility, Wild Dunes Way, Old Orchard Beach. Interment will be in the family lot in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. Those who desire may make memorial donations to the Main Veterans" Home in Scarborough, 290 US Route 1, Scarborogh, Maine 04074.
