Jean Wallenbeck Obituary

AUBURN < Jean L. Wallenbeck, 81, of Owasco Road, Auburn, formerly of Aurora, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Wallenbeck was born in Sherwood, the daughter of the late Robert and Aleta Durst Hastings, and resided in the Aurora area for most of her life. She was employed for 30 years at TRW in Union Springs, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Ledyard United Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons, Ronald M. Wallenbeck, of Constantia, Frederick H. Wallenbeck and his wife Barbara, of Frederick, Md., and Richard J. Wallenbeck, of Auburn; one daughter, Darlene J. Wallenbeck, of Auburn; two sisters, Carol Treat and her husband Gerald, of Cato, and Betty Palega and her husband Chester, of Auburn; six grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Morris H. Wallenbeck, who died in 1978, Jean was predeceased by her son, Robert W. Wallenbeck in 2006; three brothers, Clarence, William and Robert Hastings; and three sisters, Margaret Corey, Marion Perkins and Helen Dervetsky. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Shakelton Funeral Home, 418 Main St., Aurora. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in West Genoa Cemetery, King Ferry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Aurora Ambulance Fund, Aurora, NY 13026; or to the Owasco Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 Ambulance Fund, 7174 Owasco Road, Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Jean L.
