Betty DeLand Obituary

THROOP < Betty Jane Hoskins DeLand, 80, of 7297 N. Division St., Throop, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. She was born in Throop, the daughter of the late Burton and Lillian Wilson Hoskins, and had been an area resident her entire life. Mrs. DeLand was a past member of the Throopsville Community Church. Betty has been employed for many years at Finger Lakes Press in Auburn. She also worked for numerous years for the Board of Elections. Betty cherished the time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold DeLand of Throop; a son, Bill (Betty) DeLand of Montezuma; two daughters, Karen (Richard) Milillo of Fairport and Sharon (Ben) Vitale of Montezuma; two sisters, Thelma Brancato of Florida and Barbara Youngs of Throop; a brother, Burton (Beverly) Hoskins of Florida; seven grandchildren, Scott and Mark DeLand, Todd, Tammy and Eric Milillo, Adam and Amanda Vitale; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by a son, Gregory in 1974. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Forgham of Throopsville Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Throopsville Rural Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Betty"s memory to the Throop Volunteer Fire Department, Beech Tree Road, Auburn, NY 13021. My deepest sympathy goes to the whole family. Your mom/wife /grandmother was a special lady I remember .Karen and Sharon when we were going to shcool. And Ben Vitale , we rode the bus together with Walt as the bus driver. Let alone Debbie Demaio as my cousin. I thought of you both thru the years and God Bless All of you at the time !
