Ronald Van Duyne Obituary

AURORA < Ronald W. Van Duyne, 81, of Court Street, Aurora, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at the Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo. Mr. Van Duyne was born in Sherwood, the son of the late Floyd and Amy Winters Van Duyne, and resided in Aurora for most of his life. Mr. Van Duyne served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed as an electrician and was a 50-year member of the IBEW of Geneva. In addition, he was a member and former fire chief of the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department, an avid golfer and served as a Little League coach for 13 years. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Mary C. Hayton Van Duyne, of Aurora; three sons, Andrew H. Van Duyne, of Norwood, Tedd W. Van Duyne and his wife, Dawn, of Newark, and Mark T. Van Duyne and his wife, Meredith, of Aurora; six grandchildren, Geoffrey, Kerry, Julie, Rebecca, Thomas and Eleanor Van Duyne. Mr. Van Duyne was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Van Duyne, who died in 2005. Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Shakelton Funeral Home, Main Street, Aurora, with a funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Oak Glen Cemetery, Aurora. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Mr. Van Duyne. Shakelton Funeral Home of Aurora is in charge of arrangements. To the VanDuyne family,
I was so sad to hear about Ron. He was a great guy and he and Mary always made me welcome in your home. I will always remember his laugh and all those little league games that my team LOST to his team. He will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
