To all the members of the family of my first cousin Jean,
I regretted hearing about the Jean's death. Her Uncle Ray, my father, was one her admirers. The Donovans were very proud of their two nurses and when I was a 10 year old, at Grandma Donovan's kitchen on Fitch Avenue, Jean's and Peggy's white uniforms would be hanging, almost standing alone so stiff with starch after their grandmother had finished with them.
My father wanted me to be like his neice Jean, who not only was a registered nurse, but also an officer in the Navy.
Our paths diverged and I have been living in New York since becoming a nurse back in 1953, after following in my cousins footsteps.
So often I think of the clan down on Fitch Avenue, all of Earl and Juliette's children now all gone.I not only hope, but I'm sure from my memories of your mother that you have seen that Irish joy, humor, wisdom and intrepitude of your forebearers as was so very marked in
your mother.
