Tammy Rivers & Family,
I just read in the paper of the passing of your farther. I am deeply sorry to hear about that. You and your family are in my prayers.
Everythime I saw your dad at the mini mart in Bluffton I would always ask him for a lucky number. He was there every morning getting his coffee. He will be truly missed,.
Remember God puts no more on us than we can bare. He is in a better place now.

Sammy was a familiar face in Bluffton. Although I haven't lived there in years, each visit he was a constant reminder of growing up there. Whenever I would see him at S&G as a teen he would always say to me with that huge Sammy smile, "what kind of trouble are you getting into today?" I of course responded "none", with a mischevious smile. He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. He was as much a part of Bluffton as Bluffton was a part of him. God Bless.

To all of the family: Sammy's passing is such a loss but his life was such a gift to us all. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him. He was a great person. Indeed as everyone has said, he loved to help people-I locked my keys in the car with a baby in a car seat once at MCR school and he came immediately to unlock my door. You are all in our prayers at this time.

I am speechless of what to say.Everyone loved Sammy.I remember all the times he would stop in Nicklepumpers and MayRiver Mini Mart and just make sure every thing was ok.Yes...he always had a smile on his face when you saw him.The last time I saw Sammy was a few months ago with his family at Shoneys. And yes...there was that smile..even though the air conditioner was broken and it was so hot.He still had that smile.
May God watch over and comfort everyone during your loss.God has a very special "Officer Rivers",guarding those Gates now.And we will always have a special Angel watching over us.

It was certainly a shock to us when we learned that Sammy had passed away. It was only a few weeks ago that I talked with him. He was smiling and just as happy and jolly as he always was. Sammy was always willing to help people if they needed a hand in doing something or with a problem. He would quit doing what he was doing to help someone. Sammy will be missed by all that knew him because of his kindness and willing do for them. To the Rivers family we send our sympathy and condolences to you during this time of grief.

During times of grief it's sometimes hard to find the right words to say.. The first time I met 'Uncle Sammy' was some years ago.. we joked and carried on like we had known each other for years. He was a person with great character, he had such a fun nature about him and I always saw him smiling. It's hard to forget someone like Uncle Sammy. To his family: I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of mourning. May your memories be your comfort and surrounding love be your rock. God Bless.

To all the family members, those that I have known for years and those that I never knew. I have known Sammy practically all of his life, from Ridgeland to Hilton Head and Bluffton. He always had a smile and conversation for me, even after I moved to Georgia and visited Bluffton, and he always made me laugh. This was a real "shock" for me and I'm so sorry for your loss. May it give you comfort to know that he is with the Lord.
