Charles Eppright Obituary

Charles Lincoln Eppright Battle Creek Mr. Charles Lincoln Eppright, 85, of Battle Creek, MI, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at his home in Battle Creek, MI. He was born September 01, 1922 in Austin, TX the son of Ivan Chester and Helen Elizabeth (Lackey) Eppright. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He then served in the Texas National Guard until rejoining the U.S. Army in 1948. He served during the Korean Conflict, The Cuban Missile Crisis, The Cold War Period and Vietnam Era. After 23 years, he retired as Chief Warrant Officer, W3, in August of 1966. In 1967 he was employed by the U.S. Army in a civilian status and following a 5-year period in Germany he was moved to the Federal Center in Battle Creek. After 42 years of combined service, including 12 years outside of the USA, he again retired in January 1985. Charles is survived by Son: Charles T. Eppright of Arlington, VA and Sister: Mary Helen Jones of Remsen, NY. He was preceded in death by his Parents; his Wife of 50 years: Marilyn R. (Reinhardt) Eppright (2007); Son: Robert R. Eppright; and Sisters: Idell Naschke, Daisy Henninger and Eltea Armstrong. Charles was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, American Legion, Army & Air Force Mutual Aid Assoc., Battle Creek Sportsman's Club, Institute for Learning in Retirement and Westlake Presbyterian Church. Memorial services will be held at the Westlake Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. B. Mason Shambach officiating. Entombment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Westlake Presbyterian Church. My condolences to the family. I am a 4th cousin, and even though I never met Charles, he sounds like he was a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
