Ginnie,
We are so saddened to hear of Kay's passing. We have many fond memories of camping with you and the other Sunny S'Milers. After our trip together from Mackinaw City, you folks felt like a special aunt and uncle to us.
May the support of your family and friends help make this time a bit easier.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ginnie, now and the months ahead.

I could write a whole journal of my memories of the Sootsman family, Kay in particular. First and foremost, we shared the same birthday, February 17th and up until now, I didn't realize we were exactly 25 years apart! Kay celebrated his 75th and I celebrated my 50th this year!! I especially remember his sense of humor! I remember camping trips to Waterloo when he and my dad would drive back to Kellogg's to work one week out of the two weeks we went camping. I remember Kay and my Dad cutting and splitting wood at the homestead in Hastings. I remember the very tall Christmas tree they always had on their house on Guest St. I remember camping at the KOA in Kissimmee, FL when we got to be one of the first to visit Disney World in Orlando when it opened!! I remember Happy Hour, when Ginny would always ration Kay's cocktail of choice! I remember Kay and Ginny at our wedding almost 26 years ago, when they were expecting the arrival of Amy!! I remember how much my parent's looked forward to gatherings with the "Sootseys" and Kay and my Dad's outings with the Kellogg retirees! We last saw Kay at the Richland Pub when he and Ginny were out with a group of their friends. I hadn't seen either of them in quite some time, but recognized both of them immediately. Even though we didn't see each other much after I left home, the memories I cherish of our times together will remain in my heart forever! RIP K.D. Sootsman-you earned it! Love, Cindi Lebiecki

I enjoyed working with K.D. at Kellogg. We worked closely together on some projects as he approached his retirement. I enjoyed getting to know him during this time. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Kay was always helping out with the scouts, pot luck, or anything else my mother and Ginny could get him into.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Kay's humor will be remembered for a long time. He and his old pal "Pud" Handy were a pair to draw to.
