Shirley Black Obituary

Shirley Ann Black Homer Shirley Ann Black, age 64, of Homer, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Battle Creek Health System. Mrs. Black was born on August 20, 1944 in Johnson City, TN to Henry and Rosa (Dugger) Goodman. She had been a resident of this area since 1994, moving here from Belleville, Michigan. She was a member of Cooks Prairie Church. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Winford O. "Blackie" Black; daughter, Robin McCarty of northern Virginia; grandchildren, Candice McCarty of Virginia and Kenny McCarty of Grass Lake, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Shaelyn Newberry and Kendra McCarty; sisters, Sarah (Charles) Sparks of Southgate, MI, Vi McLennan of Coldwater, Barbara (Hoover) Rodgers of Chattanooga, TN; and a brother, John (Cathy) Goodman of Romulus, MI. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Goodman. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cooks Prairie Church in Homer. Memorials are to the Battle Creek Health System, Critical Care Unit.
