Mary Ryan Obituary

Mary Ann Ryan Waterford Mary Ann Ryan, of Waterford, Michigan, formerly of Battle Creek and Bangor, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2008 after a short illness at age 67. Beloved daughter of the late George and Ellen Ryan. Loving sister of Tom (Leslie) Ryan and Theresa (John) Downs. Beloved aunt of Ryan (Lisa) Downs, George (Jessica) Downs, Lisa (Keith) Losch, Debbie Ryan and Kelly (Jason) Dougherty. Also survived by three great-nephews, one great-niece and many, many dear friends and relatives. Mary Ann Ryan was born July 3, 1941 in Blue Island, Illinois and graduated from St. Phillip High School in Battle Creek in 1958. She entered the Convent on September 1, 1958 and celebrated her Final Profession of Vows on July 2, 1964. Many years of her mission work as a Sister of St. Joseph were blessed at the Blessed Sacrament in Allegan, St. John Vianney in Flint and St. Cyril's in Taylor, all in Michigan. She received her post-graduate degree from the University of Detroit and worked at Catholic Social Services in Pontiac for many years. In 2006, she retired as a Case Manager at Value Options. Mary Ann was known for her great love for her family and friends, often traveling all over the world with them. The family wishes to thank Angela Hospice for all of their care and kindness. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 27, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at St. Perpetua Catholic Church, 134 Airport Road, Waterford. Celebrant Father Jack H. Baker. The family will receive friends Friday 2-8 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford (248) 674-4181 and at the church on Saturday after 10 a.m. Vigil Service Friday 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to The Congregation of St. Joseph Nazareth Center's Retirement Fund or to Angela Hospice Home Care.
