Shirley A. Bell Coldwater Shirley A. Bell, age 69, of Coldwater, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at her home. Shirley was born on November 2, 1938 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Buddy and Porter Mae (Burton) Biggers. She married Alton Bell in 1985. Shirley came to Branch County in 1981 after many years in Inkster. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years in Dearborn, Coldwater and eventually retired from the Battle Creek Post Office in 1999. She belonged to the Mail Handlers Union and The American Postal Workers Union. Mrs. Bell was a member of St. Charles Church and enjoyed cooking and reading. She especially loved to shop, going to the mall with Sloane and making sure everyone else always had what they needed. Shirley was hard working, selfless, and always in good spirits. She adored her family and the time they all spent together, especially her granddaughter Sloane. Shirley is survived by her husband, Al; her sons, Joseph Anderson of Ypsilanti, Mark and Erica Nuyen of St. Louis, MO, Eddie and Debra Clark of Romulus; her daughters, Tyra and David Williams of Westland, Monya Anderson of Ypsilanti, Alaina Anderson of Baltimore, MD, Sharla Anderson of Coldwater, Jayme Anderson of Taylor; her brother, Charles and Carolyn Biggers of Atlanta; her precious grandchildren, Sloane Langan of Coldwater, Nicole Birdsong of Ypsilanti, Dayra and Nehemiah Williams of Westland, James Harris of Virginia; and many loving cousins, including Diane and Mike Johnson, Gordon May, all of Inkster, and Carmen Parsons of Belleville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberley Anderson in 1985, and grandson Brian Skinner in 1996. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with the Rev. Fr. Brian Stanley officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
