To the entire Sullivan family. I don't hear much about GA happenings any more and just by chance, on 10-16, I came across the news of Mr. Sullivan's passing. I was shocked and very saddened. I know he was a great dad to my friends Mike and Pat, and I know he was a great man to all of you. God bless you all and may the Lord bring you comfort through this time. Psalm 121

I have known Mr. Sullivan since Jr. High math when his BOOMING voice would announce it was time for class to begin. He was the only teacher to ever give me a "D" and I learned more from that grade than any other I ever received. He was a friend and will be missed. God bless him and keep him.

I went to Maple valley, and Sully always came to our tournament. I remember being a junior or senior, and having him come in and razz me at 8 in the morning about having his coffee and doughnuts ready.... and chasing his wrestlers. Who would have thought 10 years later I'd be married to one? Thanks, Coach. Maple Valley will miss you.

Coach Sullivan not only helped me keep my head many times in high school, but also helped me once I had graduated. If it wasn't for Coach, I never would have ended up at Olivet College, where I met my wife and ended up in the life I have today. I will always be thankful for that.

I could never have possibly imagined the sadness I feel right now. I know there will never be a day in my life that I will not be reminded of my father. I wait patiently for the happy memories to overtake the great sorrow that consumes me.

I love you Dad

Jim Sullivan was a wonderful person. The past few days had reminded me of the hundreds of great times I had "growing up" at the Sullivan house. From when I was very young on roller skates, to struggling with math in middle school, through high school football practices and recently, stopping by when I was in town to talk with Jim about the upcoming football season. Every time I walked in the door, I would hear..."Kirk...How ya doin?" I am going to miss that.

Mr. Sullivan has always held a special place in my heart, not only was he a wonderful teacher, but I believe he was a great influence on my brother Andy Boughton (who was also a friend of Tim's).
Seemed like "Sully" always had a smile on his face.

My heart goes out to your family in this time of sorrow.

We had the privledge of having Jim as a teacher for both of our sons. He was also their football coach in middle school. He was also our youngest sons wrestling coach all four years in high school. There are no words to describe the influence Jim had in our sons lives. Throughout the years he spent teaching and coaching our sons we came to know Jim as a kind and giving person, it is clear that after God made Jim Sullivan he broke the mold because there will never be another. We will miss him..

For more than three decades, Jim Sullivan modeled what it means to be a great educator at the same time he showed us how to keep love of family at the forefront of our lives. He was as admired and respected as any teacher I have ever known. How many thousands of people did this wonderful man touch? Could there possibly be a G-A student from those years who does not fondly remember Mr. Sullivan's deep voice and gentle manner? Every community should be so fortunate as G-A has been to have known and loved Jim as a teacher, a coach, and as a friend.
