Russell J. Hoffman

Russell J. Hoffman Battle Creek Russell J. Hoffman, age 85, of Battle Creek, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center. Russell was born on January 26, 1923 in Bellevue, Michigan, the son of John and Cora (Tomlin) Hoffman. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Hastings High School. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Russell was employed at the Kellogg Company in the research department until his retirement after 42 years. He married the former Betty Ward in 1947 which ended in divorce. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family. Surviving are daughters, Peggy (John) Klindt and Bonnie (Steve) Teska, both of Battle Creek; 3 grandchildren, Derrick, Jennifer Klindt and Scott Tullis; 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kelsie Guthrie and Macailee Tullis; and sister, Iris Doty of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by a son, John Hoffman. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Zuhl officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. A private graveside will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
