Margaret Miller Obituary

Margaret Frances "Maggie" Miller Margaret Frances "Maggie" Miller died on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing. She struggled against ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) for three years. She was 56. Born and raised in Battle Creek, she graduated from Lakeview High School in 1970. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Michigan State University. Her thirty-year career in education began as a home economics teacher at Harbor Springs High School. Returning to the Lansing area, she worked as a guidance counselor at DeWitt High School and, finally at Okemos High School. Through the years, she received numerous local and state awards for her excellence in and commitment to her students and to her profession. She is survived by her husband, Stan Soffin, of East Lansing, and by her sister, Marty, and family, of Ludington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. and Frances S. Miller, both Springfield High School educators. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Marriott University Place in East Lansing.
