Margaret Blair Obituary

Margaret Kerr Blair Battle Creek Margaret Kerr Blair, 86, of Battle Creek, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born October 16, 1922 in Battle Creek, the daughter of John H. and Dycie A. (Longman) Kerr and was a lifelong Battle Creek resident. She attended Kalamazoo College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in Economics and later earned a Certificate in Teaching from Western Michigan University. On January 1, 1945 Margaret Kerr was united in marriage to William A. Blair in Battle Creek; he preceded her in death in 1977. She is survived by a daughter, Colette (Jim) Treadwell, and a son, Randy Blair, both of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Michelle (John) Watson of Portage, Shayne (Don) Uphold of Kuwait, Scott (Kellie) Treadwell of Addison, TX, Blair Treadwell, Eric (Caroline) Blair, Stacey (Tom) Brown and Jessica (Andy) Erard, all of Battle Creek; ten great-grandchildren; a niece, Kathleen Kerr of Iowa; and a sister-in-law and friend of 79 years, Marse (Reg) Hardy of Holly Hill, FL. In addition to her husband, William, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, William A. (Skip) Blair in 2006, and two brothers. Margaret was a life member of the First Congregational Church, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a 44-year member of the Battle Creek Country Club, playing Bridge there weekly. She also was a past member of the PEO and had served on the Board of Directors of the Emily Andrus residence. At the request of the family, a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home with Pastor David Robberts-Mosser officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Waterfront restaurant immediately following the service. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence or North Pointe Woods Employee Christmas Fund.
