Robert Bush Obituary

Robert "Bob" Bush Battle Creek Robert "Bob" Bush, 80, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Bob was born on November 12, 1927 on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. As the son of a military family, he traveled to various locations across the country, returning to Hawaii where at age 14 he witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor. He later graduated from Campion High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and graduated from St. Norbert's College in DePere, Wisconsin. While at St. Norbert's College, Bob met the love of his life, his wife, Iris (Prue) Bush. They were married on December 30, 1950 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bob and Iris later moved to Battle Creek where he worked as one of the brave firefighters for the Battle Creek Fire Department for 37 years, retiring as a Battalion Chief. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Iris of Battle Creek; daughters, Kerry (Bill) DeFeyter of West Olive, MI, Bonnie Miller of Battle Creek, Susan Heinen of Battle Creek, Sally (Joe) Teixeira of Battle Creek; sons, Stephen (Doree) Bush of Ft. Wayne, IN and Bill (Margaret) Bush of Holland, MI; grandchildren, Jeff (Rachael), Melanie (Mike), Sarah, Carly, Aaron, Stephanie, Kimberly, Dan (Hollie), Melanie (Brent), Jessica, Joe, Jennifer (Ray), Alex, Matt, Tyler; 6 great-grandchildren; his brother, Tom of Lexington, KY; and sisters, Mary (Lachney) of Alexandria, LA and Julia (Stone) of Bellevue, MI. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Newton G. and Catherine (Nelis) Bush, and his brother, James Bush. Visitation will take place Monday, November 10, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the wonderful, caring people at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, 5470 Glenn Cross Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015.

Sally, Joe and family...my apologies for a late condolence. Please accept our most heartfelt sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. Mr. Bush was a joy to have as a customer and a friend and I always enjoyed seeing both he and Mrs. Bush on Saturdays at the coffee shop.
