Jean Irvine Obituary

Jean D. Irvine Battle Creek Jean D. Irvine, 84, of Battle Creek, died November 7, 2008 at Battle Creek Health System. She was born August 14, 1924, the daughter of Annie (Cupp) Knott and stepdaughter of Otho Knott. Jean graduated from University of Virginia with a degree in Nursing. She married Raymond H. Irvine on September 15, 1945 in Charlottesville, VA. Surviving are her husband, Raymond of Battle Creek; children, Larry (Paula Belcastro) Irvine of Columbus, OH, Terry (John) Morgan of Columbus, OH, Michael (Sandy) Irvine of Columbus, OH, Patricia (Paul) Grimstad of Darlington, MD and Susan (John Kruger) Walor of Aurora, IN; and brother, Bob Knott of Tarpon Springs, FL. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Otho Knott, and brother Murvel Deffenbaugh. Jean was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Battle Creek. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her family and Christian faith brought her great peace and joy in her life. She enjoyed nature, flowers, gardening and cooking. The family will receive friends from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Shaw Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Funeral services 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2008 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Zuhl officiating. Interment Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial donations may go to First Wesleyan Church. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com

Ray,
Sharon and I want to express our love to you during this time of loss. We have thought of you often since leaving Battle Creek and recall all the laughter we shared at some of the get togethers.
