Jack Parrish Obituary

Jack M. Parrish, Ret. USAF Sykesville, MD Jack Millard Parrish, Lt. Col, Ret. USAF, age 90, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Fairhaven in Sykesville, MD. Born August 11, 1918 in Battle Creek, Michigan, he was the son of the late Clarence Parrish and the late Cecil May Kellogg Hatch. He was the husband of the late Vivian L. Parrish, who died in 1990. He was a Retired Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Air Force, having served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Sykesville where he was a member of the choir for many years and had served on many committees over the years. He was a life member of the Sykes ville Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient, and where he had served as president from 1974-75 and again in 2001-02. Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law, Richard L. Parrish of Surry, ND, and Thomas R. and Judy Parrish of Sykesville, MD; daughter and son-in-law, Carol J. and Jim Sweeney of Sykesville, MD; grandchildren, Mahli, Mark and Michael; 2 stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Clair, Ralph and George Parrish and by his stepbrothers Jim and Bill Pickard. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD with the Rev. Roland "Bud" Brown and the Rev. Charles Shacochis officiating. Interment with military honors in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006.
