Kenneth R. Orwig Albion Kenneth R. Orwig, age 91, of Albion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2009. He was born May 26, 1917 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Irke Rayburn and Mildred Ivey (Farrell) Orwig. He attended Battle Creek Schools and graduated from Albion Public Schools. On September 8, 1940 he was married to Lucille Hagemann in Albion, they were married for 65 wonderful years before she passed away on April 28, 2005. In his early career he was employed by Service Caster in the accounting department and later was instrumental in helping to form Idea Casting Co. where he served as secretary-treasurer for 30 years before retiring. In earlier years he was a member of the Albion Exchange Club, a member for 6 years on the Calhoun County Tax Allocation Board, past president of the Calhoun County Kimball Sanitarium, and member of the Albion United Fund Committee. Kenneth was also a very active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving on several boards and being instrumental in the planning and building of the current St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing golf and a good bridge game. Following his retirement, he and his wife Lucille enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. Survivors include: 2 Brothers, Melvin (Marian) Orwig and Bill (Rosemary) Orwig, both of Marshall; Nieces, Millie Davey of Jackson, Marie (Paul) Arrick of Fine Lake, Diane (John) Stout of Grand Rapids, Glenna (Mike) York of Ocala, FL, Becky (Chuck) Moran of Novi, Annette (Bryan) Cornwell of Pennfield; Nephews, Dan (Julie) Orwig of Duxbury, MA, Jeff (Merry Jane) Orwig of Danville, CA, Ted Orwig of Woodlands, TX, Tom (Cheryl) Patterson of Allegan, Russell (Cheryl) Orwig of Richland, and Bill (Lisa) Orwig Jr. of Wellington, FL; special Sisters-in-law, Doris Hagemann of Battle Creek and Belva Hagemann of Albion; and special Nephew, Tom (Doris) Hagemann of Parma. He was preceded in death besides his wife, by his parents, 1 Sister Madeline Patterson and 3 Brothers James, Glen and Stanley Orwig. He was dearly loved and will be missed by family and friends. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards and food. It meant so much to Kenneth. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Albion with the Rev. Gary Nehring and Vicar Mike Belinsky officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are by the Finley Drive Chapel of the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive Albion, Michigan 49224.
