Allen Ferguson Obituary

Allen W. Ferguson Battle Creek Allen Wesley Ferguson passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born on July 27, 1939 to Wesley K. and Margaret (Mienhart) Ferguson. He attended Battle Creek Central High School and in 1957 married his bride of 51 years, Marilynn Jean (Gabriel) Ferguson. Allen served in the United States Army from April 1963 through March 1965 in the Army Corps of Engineers in Honolulu, Hawaii. After his honorable discharge from the military he worked in construction with his father and for Grand Trunk Railroad. He then worked for Stanley Home Products for 12 years. Allen started his own trucking business and was president of Allen Ferguson Enterprises and TWH Enterprises until he retired in 2004. During retirement he enjoyed spending his summers with his family at their cottage on Houghton Lake; fishing, barbecuing and taking care of the yard. Allen is survived by his loving wife, Marilynn; daughters, Cheryl (Troy) Thompson of Pinehurst, NC, and Michelle (Jim) Mantei, and their daughters Olivia and Molly of Auburn, MI; and a sister, Elaine (Jerry) Lewis of Menominee, MI. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour before service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, the Cancer Care Center at Battle Creek Health System or Westlake Presbyterian Church.
