Erma Elizabeth Ball

Erma Elizabeth Ball Battle Creek Erma Elizabeth Ball, 94, of Battle Creek, died January 18, 2009 at her home. She was born October 4, 1914, the daughter of Perry Leon and Mary Elizabeth (Winchcomb) Kidder in Buckley, Michigan. Erma graduated from Albion High School and then devoted her life to being a homemaker along with farming. Erma was married to Martin A. Ball on November 22, 1936 at the family home in Albion. He preceded her in death in May 9, 1973. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Lulu T. Korn and Edna Tawney; and brothers, Roy L., twins Don and Dale, Wayne and Corlin Kidder. Erma is survived by her children, Keith (Ellen) Ball of Battle Creek, Elaine Hoy of Battle Creek and Nadine Coats of Burlington; brother, Perry (Jo) Kidder of Three Rivers; sisters, Evelyn Burkwalt of Duck Lake, Anna Belle (Bert) Saylor of Marshall and Mildred (Art) Clark of Litchfield. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Erma loved being with her entire family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening and farming, and she was a babysitter to many area families. She was member of the Calhoun County Extension. Friends are welcome to visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Shaw Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Codde, Chaplain, Good Samaritan Hospice officiating. Interment, Newton Cemetery.
