Josephine Saltzgaber Obituary

Josephine A. "Jo" Saltzgaber Battle Creek Josephine A. "Jo" Saltzgaber, 92, of Battle Creek, died at Battle Creek Health System on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. She was born in Albion, Michigan to George and Nettie (Mills) Rogers on November 9, 1916. Jo grew up in Tekonsha, attending schools there. After 31 years, she retired from the Inspection Department at the Kellogg Company in 1976. Josephine A. Rogers was united in marriage to Rex D. Saltzgaber at her parent's home in Tekonsha on December 14, 1933. Surviving are Rex, her husband of 75 years; a daughter, Linda (Charles) French of Huntley, IL; a son, Barry E. (Sue) Saltzgaber of Battle Creek; a granddaughter, Debbie (Mark) Toussaint; two grandsons, Andrew French and Greg (Dionne) French; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (Alan) Hicks of Battle Creek and Donna Richardson of Marshall; a brother, Lyle (Ruth) Rogers of Houghton Lake; and a daughter-in-law, Moya Saltzgaber of North Carolina. Jo was preceded in death by two sons, R. Derald Saltzgaber and Raymond Saltzgaber, and three brothers, Leslie, Don and George Rogers. Jo was a life member of the Rebecca Chapter # 324 Order of Eastern Star, the Kellogg 25-Year Club and attended Birchwood United Methodist Church and a member of the Faith Circle. At the request of the family, friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received 4-7 and one hour preceding the funeral. Services to celebrate Jo's life will be held at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, with Pastor Robert D. Nystrom officiating. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, in Tekonsha, MI, will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church.
