Richard E. "Dick" Brigstock Bradenton, FL Richard E. "Dick" Brigstock, 79, of Bradenton, Florida and Battle Creek, passed away to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. He was born November 17, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Maurice and Cathryn (Penrod) Brigstock. Dick attended Michigan Tech where he studied engineering for two years before being called for service in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his time in the Navy, he began working at Kellogg's and retired in 1989. Dick was an avid fisherman. Summer or winter, you could find him out on the lake. He loved golf and in his younger years bowling. Dick enjoyed any type of puzzle and would work at it until he had it solved. You could often find him down at the coffee shop "shooting the breeze" with the guys. He loved all his grandchildren, but if you asked him he would admit that he was partial to the girls. Dick was a member of Journey Assembly of God in Florida and attended First Wesleyan here in Battle Creek. Surviving are his wife: Sally (DeTurk) Brigstock of Bradenton, FL; two daughters: Jacqueline A. Monette of Greeneville, TN and Juanita R. Banner of Lansing; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Joyce Hall of Earlville, MD; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Juanita (McHale) Brigstock in 2003; sister: Marilyn Graves; and one grandson. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Philip Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Dick and I go back to grade school in Verona and little league baseball. Later we had some great times on golf trips to Sarasota and at Riverside C.C. So sorry to hear of his passing. Howard Cripps

My memories of Dick are of our friendship which began in the 1970s. We spent some "unique' moments together and I am happy to think back on them. You all have prayerful thoughts from both Bev and I. With Christian Love....Bill Gray

Dear Sally, Eileen and I were saddened to hear of Dick's passing. I always enjoyed conversing with Dick even if our words were few. I told Eileen, I like Dick's last name. Your's and Dick time together was cut short. You two were an awesome couple.
