Betty L. Pearson

Betty L. (Gieske) Pearson Athens Betty L. (Gieske) Pearson, age 80, of Athens, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Battle Creek Health System. Betty was born on December 16, 1928 in Battle Creek to Fredrick and Katherine (Steward) Gieske. She was employed by the Gieske and Sons Grocery Store in Battle Creek for 25 years and then Capital Foods Grocery in Battle Creek for 15 years. She is survived by one son, Gary (Linda) Pearson of Coldwater, and sister Maxine (Jess) Morgan of Springfield. Betty is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and also by a special Godchild, Autumn (David) Tendziegloski of Climax. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents and 3 brothers. Friends may call at the Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens where the family will be present from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Cosby officiating. Burial at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens. Memorial donations may be made to Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. 292 McAllister Road, Battle Creek, Michigan 49014.
