James Hicks Obituary

James N. Hicks Bronson Mr. James N. Hicks, age 76, of Bronson, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Community Health Center of Branch County, Coldwater, Michigan. Jim was born March 30, 1932 in Battle Creek, to Chancy and Florence (Zongker) Hicks. He was employed at Douglas Auto Tech for 32 years and was a member of the UAW. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and animals. He especially loved his family and favorite cat Bonkers. He is survived by his children's mother, Doris Hicks; daughter, Dorla (Brian) Avery of Sherwood; son, Daniel (Jackie) Hicks of Union City; sisters, Mona (Leo) Smurr of Sherwood and Dawn Kidd of Williamston; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, on January 12, 2005, son David Hicks, granddaughter Melissa Hicks, grandson Chancy D. Hicks, and sister Darlene Kline. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of Branch County. Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 at Spencer Family Funeral Home, Athens.
