Wayne Gregory Obituary

Wayne H. Gregory St. Louis Age 77, of St. Louis, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14th at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis United Methodist Church with Pastor Terri Bentley officiating. Interment will be in Battle Creek Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home of St. Louis. Wayne was born March 3, 1931 in Petrolia, Canada the son of Elmo and Dolly (Tracy) Gregory. He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1949 and enlisted in the Air Force shortly afterwards. He served his country with the 110th Fighter Wing as an aircraft mechanic in Battle Creek for 36 years retiring in 1985 as a Master Sergeant. Wayne enjoyed doing interior woodwork on homes during his retirement years. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, whom he married on April 21, 1984; one son, Dr.s Robert W. (Barbara) Gregory of Guam and a daughter, Amy L. (David) Padget of Holly, MI, six grandchildren, Bryan, Jordan, Sierra, and Chloe Gregory, and Elizabeth and Rebecca Padget; also four stepchildren, Julia A. Versau of Valparaiso, IN, Jack L. (Maureen) Versau of Coldwater, MI, Susan M. (David) Thole of Vicksburg, MI and Katherine (Edward) Runyon of Battle Creek; 17 step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; one sister, Isabel (Cloyce) Schultheiss and one brother, Gerald (Nancy) Gregory both of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepdaughter, Laura Versau and a sister, Patricia Shankel.
