Iris "Anne" French

Iris "Anne" (Smith) French East Leroy Iris "Anne" (Smith) French, age 67, of East Leroy, MI and formerly of Brooksville, FL, peacefully went to be with Jesus on Thursday, February 19, 2009 surrounded by her family at home after a 2-year battle with cancer. She was born February 9, 1942, the daughter of H.I. Smith and Marie (Kuykendall) Marek. Anne was a 1960 graduate of Hernando High School in Brooksville. After graduation she moved to Battle Creek to work at Kellogg's where she met her husband, Robert "Bob" French. Anne was a two-time state horseshoe champion, she enjoyed fishing and taking care of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years; her mother, who resides at Cornerstone in Hastings, MI; daughter, Patricia (Martin) Thornburg; son, David (Wendy) French and kids Ryan and RaeLee; granddaughter, Melissa (Eric) Norris; sister, Cindy (John) Bishop; brother, Joseph (Toni) Marek; stepmother, Patricia Smith; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather Joseph Marek. A private memorial service will be held at home with family and close friends.
