Sophronia Miller Obituary

Sophronia Rosalie Miller Battle Creek Sophronia Rosalie Miller, 84, of Battle Creek, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born November 20, 1924 in Charlotte, Michigan the daughter of Earl and Celia (Weeks) Carpenter where she lived until moving to Battle Creek in 1947. She lived in Battle Creek from 1947 until 1956 and worked at Post Cereals. On September 27, 1952 she was married to Harold V. Miller in Battle Creek. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1956 and lived there until moving back to Battle Creek in 1979. While living in Los Angeles she worked for Hughes Aircraft from 1956 until 1960. Surviving are her husband, Harold; two daughters: Linda (John) Sullivan of Dayton, OH and Janet (Terry) Thorington of Los Angeles, CA; sister: Mary (Dave) Hancock of Richmond, KY; special friends, Tammy and Scott Ferguson; two grandchildren: Alex and Kylie Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Maurice, George and Donald Carpenter; one niece, Susie; and one nephew, Brian. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lifespan.

Dear Harold:
I am so sorry to read of Rose's passing. I remember with great fondness our time as neighbors. Rose never hesitated to share her gentle spirit with all whom she met. Your loving marriage was one that very few have every experienced.
May the Lord comfort your greatly during this time of loss.
