Vera Belle McCray

Vera Belle (Mitcheltree) McCray Hickory Corners Vera Belle (Mitcheltree) McCray, 86, of Hickory Corners, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Battle Creek Health System. She was born January 18, 1923, in Rutledge,TN, the daughter of Jesse and Drama (Perrin) Cruse. She was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Vera was previously employed at Walgreen's in Battle Creek and Flint, and Jacobson's. Vera retired from the Post Division of Kraft General Foods after a long career. Vera also worked over 25 years in real estate working for Belcher Real Estate and Frohm Real Estate. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, reading and collecting. Vera loved doing things and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vera was a member of the Post 25-Year Club, American Legion #298 Auxiliary and the PNA Club. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Joy (Steven) (Olson) DeLing of Battle Creek and her son Gary Lee Olson of Lansing. She also leaves her grandchildren, Tamra (John) (VanVleet) Ksiazek, Deborah (VanVleet) Morris and Todd DeLing; great-grandchildren, Larry and Kyle Morris and Justin Mayo; numerous nieces and nephews who were very close to and extremely helpful throughout her life; and her best friend, Rosanna Townsend. Vera was preceded in death by brothers Roy, Clarence and Frank Cruse and sisters Irene Cruse, Lucille LeClear and Hazel Hoexter Moore. Friends may call at Royal Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009 at Royal Funeral Home.
