Kenneth Ballou Obituary

Kenneth C. Ballou Jr. Winthrop, ME Kenneth C. Ballou Jr., 58, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after having suffered a stroke. Chip was born in Albion, Michigan on June 19, 1950. He graduated from Albion College, and obtained a Master's in English Language and Literature from Eastern Michigan. He worked in Market Research for many years in both Michigan and Maine. He was an inveterate punster whose wit and wry social commentary kept those around him on their toes. Chip faced many challenges from diabetes with unwavering courage and determination. He was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Lyn Ballou of Winthrop; a cherished daughter, Caitlin Ballou of Winthrop; his parents, Kenneth and Polly Ballou of Albion, MI; a sister, Ann Ballou of Kalkaska, MI; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Wesley Chapel, First United Methodist Church, Albion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. I was most saddened to learn of the passing of Chip. My memories of him date back our childhood -- growing up in Albion -- and go all the way back to nursery school at the Methodist Church. He was always a wonderful guy! I am very sorry for your loss.

Our sincere condolences to the Ballou family for your loss. We remember Chip from our school days at AHS. I recall our times in the law enforcement explorers and the great job he did as a dispatcher at the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.
