Ruth C. Guerin

Ruth C. Guerin Marshall Ruth C. Guerin, age 101, of Marshall, MI, passed away peacefully Friday, April 3, 2009, at Maplewood of Marshall. Ruth Cameron Calkins was born on January 28, 1908 in Buffalo NY. She was the third daughter of George H. "The Boss" and Mary Elizabeth "Connie" (Patton) Calkins. At 17, she entered Cornell University, to which she had won a scholarship, graduating four years later with honors. She was married to Herbert A. Guerin in 1936. They moved to Marshall in 1999 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Her parents and three sisters also preceded her in death. Mom was truly a remarkable lady. Ruth is survived by sons: George A. (Marijke) Guerin of Ceresco, MI and Donald H. Guerin of Sacramento, CA; two grandsons: Martin (Lori) Guerin of Portage MI and Frank (Laura) Guerin of Traverse City MI. She also leaves 2 great-grandsons: Liam and Josh Guerin and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. As per Ruth's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Final interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek.
