Gale McCuaig Obituary

Gale McCuaig Battle Creek Gale McCuaig, age 85, of Battle Creek, formerly of Marshall and Hobart, Indiana, died April 28, 2009 at Alterra Sterling House. She was born December 14, 1923, the daughter of Gilbert and Bulah (Farr) Ramsey in Metropolis, Illinois. Gale worked as a switchboard operator and then as a crossing guard at Mundle Elementary School in Hobart, Indiana for many years. She especially enjoyed being a homemaker to her family. She married James S. McCuaig in March of 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1994. Gale is survived by her daughter, Carol A. (Barry) Barnett of Battle Creek; special daughters, Karen (Joe) Ragan of Valparaiso, Indiana and Mary Kay (John) Mead of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Douglas Morton of Battle Creek and James (Lisa) Morton of Gilbert, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Zoey and Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, four brothers, one niece and one nephew. Gale was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marshall. She volunteered with many different community events in Marshall. Gale loved to garden, cook, travel, going out to eat with her family, being outdoors by the water or on the boat, watching Wheel of Fortune but she especially loved her grandchildren. Memorial services 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Shaw Funeral Home with family visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may go to the charity of one's choice.
