Helen VanDeMark Obituary

Helen Hope Love VanDeMark Allegan Helen Hope Love Vandemark, Allegan, MI, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at her home. Helen was born May 2, 1954 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Lawrence and Harriett (Hope) Love. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Allegan. Helen graduated from Cooley Law School in Detroit. She worked for Social Services as a legal aide for 7 years in Louisiana, while attending Tulane University. She then moved to Grand Rapids and worked for the Social Security Administration for the past 10 years, and was instrumental in passing laws for the benefit of helping children with Social Security issues. Helen was licensed to practice law in both Michigan and Louisiana. Surviving are her husband and companion of 20 years, Roy Hight; her brother, Michael and Karla Love of Battle Creek; brother-in-law, Lawrence and Phyllis Hight of PA. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 10 a.m. till service time at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Allegan. Pastor Ron Bessert will officiate. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
