Jean Williams Obituary

Jean Theresa Williams Battle Creek Jean Theresa Williams was born to Andrew L. and Willie Mae Hardrick on November 19, 1928. She departed this life on June 7, 2009 at 8:50 am. Jean spent her early years in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and attended Aliquippa public schools. Jean married Otis Clarence Williams in 1947 and they came to Battle Creek in 1959. They had two daughters, Deborah Jean Williams Pulley, who preceded her in death in 1996 and Eileen (Ade') Hardrick Brown. Jean worked at the Old Community Hospital and retired from Michigan Bell after twenty years of service. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend E. L. Young and was one of its first candidates for baptism. Jean was instrumental in starting Macedonia's first building fund and was a dedicated usher for over forty years. She was also a member of the Pioneers of America. Jean is survived by her husband, Otis, and brother, Jesse Hardrick, both of Battle Creek, daughter, Eileen of Los Angeles, two granddaughters, Erika Pulley-Hayes and Kristian Pulley, both of Bowie, Maryland, a grandson, Keith Small, of Los Angeles, four great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends. A sister, Ruth, died in 1957. Jean enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all. Visitation will be held after 1 pm Sunday (June 14, 2009) at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service; where the family will be present from 5:00-7:00p.m Sunday. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church (636 West Van Buren) with Pastor Timothy Troxler officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
