Elsie Scroggins Obituary

Elsie Marie Scroggins Today the world lost a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Elsie Marie Scroggins, age 85, died at Evergreen Manor June 11, 2009. She was born March 4, 1924 to Archie and Ethel Spaulding in Battle Creek. She was married for 50 years to Mr. Joe Scroggins. They were married May 15, 1959 in Battle Creek. They both worked at Westin Biscuit Company (Inter Bake Foods) for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. She loved being with her family and her favorite time of the year was the holidays where she could cook and bake her famous pies for all of her family. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Ethel Spaulding, two of her children; Jimmy and Ricky Sims, her grandson, Timmy Feltner, a sister, Ruth Wood, a brother Dewayne Spaulding, a son-in-law, Rusty Schleben and a daughter-in-law, Vicky Lynn Scroggins. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mr. Joe Scroggins; daughters, Jan Slauson of Crystal River, Florida, Barbara Schleben of Union City; a son Joey Scroggins of Union City, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a brother Robert Spaulding. She will always be loved and missed by all. Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City with Pastor Jeff Isaacs officiating. Interment will follow at the Burlington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
