Addie Stevens Obituary

Addie R. Stevens Battle Creek Addie R. Stevens, age 90, went to be with the love of her life, the late Paul Stevens on June 20, 2009. Addie was born January 22, 1919 in Battle Creek the daughter of Ervin and Emma (McKeever) Babcock. She married Paul Stevens on August 10, 1943 in Battle Creek and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1999. Addie retired in 1970 after over 35 years of service working for: Dole's, Michigan Bell, Kellogg's, National Tea, Brenner's Meat Market, and Meijer's as head checker and bookkeeper. She loved to be around her grandchildren and the love of her life, Paul. Addie was a member of the Red Hatters at Evergreen and she enjoyed crocheting. Addie is survived by her children: Ann Rugg of Ft. Myers, FL, Chuck (SueAnn) Stevens of Ashley, IN, Charlene (William) Durbin of White Pigeon, MI, and Paula Mack of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Rollo Babcock of FL; 2 sisters: Dora Horvath and Donna Palmer both of Battle Creek; and her special friend Ed Rice of Ft. Myers, FL. Besides her husband Paul, Addie was preceded in death by her son Pat Sells; 2 grandchildren: Thomas Rugg and Jackie Bresnahan; 2 great granddaughters: Nickie Gipple and Sarah Cody; 2 sisters; and 1 brother. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.at the Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials in Addie's name may be directed to Evergreen Senior Care & Rehab Center, Activities Dept., 111 Evergreen Rd., Springfield, MI 49037.
