Dorothy Hagemann Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth Hagemann Battle Creek Dorothy Elizabeth Hagemann, age 100, formerly of Albion, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2009, with family present at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. She was born November 11, 1908 to James and Anna (Radtke) Young in Jackson County, Michigan. The family moved to Albion around 1919. She was a payroll clerk at Albion Malleable Iron and had also worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1928 she married Robert F. Hagemann who preceded her in death in 1995. Dorothy lived in Albion for ninety years before moving to North Pointe Woods Assisted Living. It was there where she celebrated her 100th birthday in 2008. Since 1930 she has been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albion. She served as a member of the Ladies Aid, choir member, Missionary League and Sunday school teacher. She had also served on the Hospital Service League and at one time she was a part of P.T.A.. Dorothy enjoyed crochet, knitting reading and flower gardening. Survivors include: son, John and Cora Lee Hagemann of Battle Creek; sister, Elaine Schultz of Albion; and brother, Jim Young of Albion; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband; 3 sons James, Robert Jr. and Douglas; 3 sisters Evelyn Hartung, Caroline Stumpf and Elsie Watson; 3 brothers, Ben, Richard and Charles and 2 grandchildren Michaela and James, Jr. The family would like to thank her friends and staff at North Pointe Woods and Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, with Rev. Gary Nehring & Rev. Thomas Dunseth. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 24, from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to Funeral Service on Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions are suggested to St. Paul Church in Albion, Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice or North Pointe Woods Assisted Living. www.kevintiddfuneralhome.com

Was surprised at Dorothy's passing but guess I really didn't know her as well as Jim and Elaine, please accepted my condolences and will keep the whole Young's family in our prayers. So many memories from Ann street years ago and all are pleasant and happy memories too.
