Lawrence E. "Larry" Lucas

Lawrence E. "Larry" Lucas Battle Creek Lawrence E. "Larry" Lucas, 73 of Battle Creek, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born June 10, 1936 in Battle Creek and was a graduate of St. Philips Catholic High School. On May 28, 1977 Lawrence E. Lucas was united in marriage to Sue Ann Bennett in Battle Creek. In addition to his wife, Sue Ann, Larry is survived by his daughter, Amy M. Lucas, and a stepson, Christopher A. Bennett. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Maurer) Strickland. He was employed by Kellogg Company as a watchman, retiring in 1991, after 37 years. Larry was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club, Chess Federation of American, pool league, bowling and Golden Gloves boxing. He enjoyed karate, magic tricks, woodcarving, crossword puzzles, game shows, weight-lifting and he loved his ice cream and M&M's. At the request of the family, friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday June 28th at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Bob J.
