Eleanor Brooks Obituary

Eleanor I. Brooks Union City Eleanor I. Brooks, 80, of Union City passed away June 29, 2009 at the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. She was born in Climax, MI, March 3, 1929 to Hector Robert and Bonnie Katherine (Gray) Nicholson. She graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in 1949. Eleanor was a receptionist at Dr. Stewart's office in Union City. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Union City, the Eastern Star of Climax, the Merry Mixers Square Dancers, the Square Dance Association, and the Rolling Squares Travel/Camper Club. She is survived by her husband, Arnold; daughters, Carol Brooks of Union City, Diane (Bill) Haley of Union City, Laura (Mitch) Miller of Reading; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Nicholson; sisters, Roberta Way, Marion Coburn; and her parents. Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Union City with Pastor Karen Nachtigall officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
