Joseph Weakley Obituary

Joseph William Weakley Battle Creek Mr. Joseph William Weakley, 81, of Battle Creek, MI, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, MI. He was born February 16, 1928 in Marshall, MI the son of Ernest Weakley and Nancy (Scott) Weakley. Joseph graduated in 1946 from Marshall High School. He served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1950 where he received a WWII Victory Medal. He retired from Eaton Corp. in 1982 after 32 years of service. Joseph is survived by son, Joseph (Pamela) Weakley of Marshall, MI; daughter, Jane (David) Myers of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren, Melinda (Matt) Hall of Marshall, MI, 1st Lt. Joseph (Nicole) Weakley of North Carolina and Amy Myers of Battle Creek, MI; sister, Patricia Binnette of Battle Creek, MI; special friend, Barbara Steele of Battle Creek, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 brothers and sisters. He enjoyed carpentry and was an avid race fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their school sporting events. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 after 3 p.m. where the family will be present 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009, 11:30 a.m. at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Matthew Hall officiating. Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Lifespan-Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. I'm sorry to hear about Bill's death. I'm a first cousin and haven't seen him in about 15 years. Since I didn't find out about his passing until this evening I wasn't able to be at the visitation nor will I be at the service. I'm glad he will be buried at the National Cemetery. My condolences to the family.
