William Brown Obituary

William A Brown Battle Creek William A Brown, age 79, of Battle Creek, died June 30, 2009. Bill was born on April 30, 1930 in Danville, AL the son of Walter and Mary (McDaniel) "Staggs" Brown. He married Viola McLemore on October 24, 1946 in Decatur, AL and she survives. Bill served our country in the mid 1950's. He was a member of the American Legion in Battle Creek. Bill first worked for City Window in Kalamazoo, had his own fishing charter out of Manistee, MI and owned Brown's Concrete in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo retiring in 1995 after 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his wife Viola, Bill is survived by his children: Gail (Randy) Greenway, Brinda (Don) Konkle, Tammy (Tony) Garber all of Battle Creek, Tina (Marvin) King of Decatur, AL and Tonya (Daniel) Cole of Moulton, AL; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter: Diane Brown; and 1 great-grandchild: Chase. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the time of his service. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery, Alabama. Memorials in Bill's name may be directed to the Battle Creek Veteran's Medical Center, Battle Creek.
